In this 9-part series, I explain the basic
corporate, business and contract law issues for veterinary
corporations and veterinary practices in California. I
explain things from both sides, that is, the perspectives of
both the individual veterinarian and the practice.

In the series, I talk about veterinary
corporations from beginning to end, that is from forming or
buying the veterinary practice to leaving, closing or
selling the veterinary practice. Along the way, I discuss
some basic contracts for a veterinary corporation, including
veterinarian employment agreements, veterinarian independent
contractor agreements, shareholder buy-sell agreements, and
veterinarian exit / severance agreements. I explain how to
bring a new veterinarian into a practice and how
non-competition clauses work when the veterinarian leaves
the practice.
